Synopsis
"Balto" takes place is the winter of 1925 in Nome, AK. Balto is a half wolf and half husky. He doesn't know where he belongs, and it seems the only people who like him are his friends. His friends are Jenna, Boris, Muk, Luk, and Rosy (see characters below).. Everybody else treats him like an outcast because of his wolf heritage. The being that dislikes Balto the most is Steele. Steele is a large Alaskan Malamute who is the lead dog of a champion sled team. The thing is, Steele didn't win all those races AND the golden collar fair and square. He cheats to win. Anyway, Steele hates Balto enough to kill him. Anyway, one day Rosy, Jenna's owner who likes Balto, falls terribly ill. Many other children do, to. Rosy was the 18th case. The disease she has is diptheria. You can die from the high fever it gives you. The required medicene was diptheria antitoxin, orange medicene in a small bottle. Unfortunately, there is no medicene left. Medicine is available in Anchorage, AK. The problem is, Anchorage is more than 600 miles from Nome! It is decided that a train will bring the medicine from Anchorage to Nenana, where the railroad stops. Then,a sled team will be sent out to bring the medicene from

My Review
Personally, I though that Balto was the best of all three films. Mistakes in the color of characters and objects was extremely rare, the voices fit the characters very well, the characters were well developed, the storyline and script were very well written, the score was very dramatic, each character and object were colored in very well, and the backgrounds were painted beautifully. Nothing short of an excellent classic. The story of the real Balto was a symbol of courage, bravery, and determination. This film has done an absolutely perfect job of doing justice to the story. The sole flaw of Balto was that it was not advertized enough back in 1995, when it was released in theathers. Universal had made the mistake of releasing Balto at the same time as Toy Story. Since Toy Story was the first 3D animated film, it grabbed all the attention away from Balto. As a result, I have a slightly different view of Toy Story now that I learned this.If Toy Story had not have been released, or the Balto release had been postponed, we would probably see a lot more fans out there. 9 out of 10 people have probably no idea what Balto is. But probably 9 out of 10 know what Toy Story is.
