Balto's Glacier Cave

The Serum Run

Nome is a small town in northern Alaska.  There is no road in or out.  Gold was discovered there in 1900.  This gold was at the Bering Straits.  The miners spread out tents and shacks for 30 miles across the edge of the Bering Straits..  25 years later, the miners were gone.  They had left their shelters behind, and now Eskimos inhabited them.  One day, a child grew very sick.  A few days later, 4 children had died from the disease.  18 others were exteremly sick.  The medicine required is diptheria antitoxin, but the supply at Nome's only doctor's office is spoiled.
